Hi everyone,

Yes, my blog post is late again. If you have been paying attention to the news or lived in the United States, then you know that roe v. wade was overturned by the Supreme Court this week. Plus, all the other laws that Supreme Court strike down this week as well. To be honest, writing about my cybersecurity internship was not a priority. I am not surprised that this happen and lucky to live in a state where abortion is still legal. However, this decision not only affects women but everyone as well. As aspiring cybersecurity professionals, I hope you guys can see that the right to privacy is at stake and the dangers this may cause in the future.

If you by chance see my blog, then please donate to causes that help women with abortions. Here are some links: https://abortionfunds.org/ and https://elevatedaccess.org/. You can also find donations and resources in your state as well.

If you are eighteen years old or older, please register to vote and participate in your local, state, and federal elections. Yes, I know you feel defeated that nothing you can do will make a difference. However, voting for candidates that will bring change to your state and to your country is an important step that we must do to in order keep fighting.

Okay, enough of me talking about everything besides my cybersecurity internship. Let’s get started.

This week was stressful due to creating a youtube video about the differences between Blue Team vs. Red Team. The topic is easy and we have written about it in Week 1. However, I don’t know anything about making a youtube video. Plus, I had to present it. The good news is that I don't have to show my face. My voice was the only requirement. I thought I can use Google Slides and add my voice to the presentation.

The day before the youtube video was due, I found out that I could not convert my presentation into a video format. Everyone recommended to Microsoft Powerpoint to create a presentation and use the record feature. However, the free Microsoft PowerPoint does have the voice recording feature. Therefore, I had to create my presentation on a Google slide, used Google’s creator studio to expert my slides as an image sequence, used the website: Online Voice Recorder to record my voice, and I used Window’s Video Editor to create my video to upload on Youtube. I was so stressed out because I didn't know if this was going to work and if I had enough time to submit the video. Thank God. It worked out. The youtube video was uploaded before the due date and it was immediately taken down after I received my certificate of completion for week 8. Don’t ask me for the link guys. I'm not giving it to you.

Why did you delete the video? Because I do not feel comfortable creating cybersecurity-related content without having cybersecurity experience or knowledge. I feel like I need years of experience in this field to give out advice or knowledge to the public. I don't want to spread wrong information on the internet, especially on a youtube video. Maybe in the future, but not now.

This week’s takeaway is learning about pfSense. Before learning about pfSense, I thought pfSense was an open-source software that cybersecurity professionals can use in their home labs to learn about firewalls, which is an important concept in cybersecurity. This is only one feature of pfSense. pfSense can act as delivers advanced firewall, VPN, and routing functionality in your cloud-based infrastructure with features including intrusion detection and prevention, load balancing, traffic shaping, GeoIP blocking, dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6 support, DHCP and DNS server, Domain Name blacklisting, multiple VPN tunnels using IPsec and OpenVPN, web content filtering, and so much more. I was shocked to learn about this all these features and definitely will take the time to learn more and explore pfSense.

This week’s zoom meeting was canceled because many interns or taking the free ethical hacking course by TCM Security which is the same time as our internship meeting. VTF saw it as a great opportunity for all of us, so they shared the course and created a pnpt channel on the VTF discord channel. Are they going to continue canceling our zoom meeting? There are only two weeks left, so maybe they don’t see that the meeting are important anymore. To be honest, the mandatory meetings are not really informative. The meetings just go over questions that the interns have, a recap of what we learned this week, and what to expect next week. Well, I let you know next week if the zoom meeting is canceled due to the TCM Security course.

Thank you for following along while I blog about my cybersecurity internship journey. We are almost at the finish line. I can’t believe this internship is coming to an end. Follow along for my blog update for week 9. Enjoy your day. Bye!!!
