PNPT Live: Week 2
Welcome back to my blog where I post about my experience taking the TCM Security PNPT course aka ethical hacking. If you didn't read my Week 1 course, you can check out this link here:https://dijah.medium.com/pnpt-live-week-1-129a31c678b1. If you are all caught up, let’s begin.
If you have seen the picture of this post, then you know that week 2 was about python. If you have been following my page, I am learning python because it is a skill that other cybersecurity professionals recommend every aspiring cybersecurity professional learn. Is it required to learn Python? No. Do you have to be an expert in Python? No. As a cybersecurity professional, python is an asset. It helps to understand the code and can be used to automate tasks. You want to know at least basic python programming. You don't want to copy & paste code into a system and have no idea what that code is doing. You could lose your job.
If you are looking for an in-depth course to learn python, this course is not for you. This week was a refresher course. If you know basic python you are fine, then you are fine. If you haven't seen python before this course, you might need to do some python classes. You can read my learning python series where I review python courses that I have taken: https://dijah.medium.com/my-python-journey-6565ea915ed4. Also, people recommend Codecademy to learn python as well. The instructor goes so fast, so I didn't get to take notes. He provided the python code on the pnpt course website. I was fine on Day 1. However, I struggled to keep up on day 2. Day 2 was all the python topics I struggled with in before taking this course. Therefore, I was prepared to record Day 2 on my phone (lol).
I realize that I need to practice writing python not watching someone do it or read about it. The instructor talked about doing logic games. You have to write python code in order to move on to the next step. I’m looking into that. If you guys have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
Otherwise, that is a recap of Week 2. In week 3, we are exploring hacking now. I’m nervous and excited. Thank you for reading my blog post. Please follow along for the week 3 post. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Bye!!!!!
Here is Week 3:
